his class is
for absolute beginner sewers as well as the person who wants to get back
into sewing and start from the beginning. We will start with how to
accurately measure and cut a pattern to size as well as the basics of
using a sewing machine. You will be sewing a pullover top and a skirt in
just 4 lessons. Most sewing will be done in class but it is necessary to
have a machine at home to finish the garments if you fall behind. If you
do not have a machine, we have rentals or you may choose to purchase a
machine starting with entry level models that are priced very
reasonably. Fabrics and supplies will be purchased DURING the first
lesson at which time you will be given a supply list. Please purchase
your book before class. They will be available when you check in for
your first lesson.
This class is very exciting and is suitable even for interested teens
but we must insist that the Mom attend the class with the teen, (13 and
older). It is very much to your advantage because it is a great bonding
time that will be shared for the rest of your life.
It is VERY important not to miss the first lesson because
all of the basics of measuring and cutting are taught. Lesson two
covers the basics of using your sewing machine for seams and you will be
sewing your neckline and shoulder seams. Sometimes other classes
may be made up whenever there is another class in the same week.

This Beyond
Beginner series is for those who have taken our Beginner class or for
someone who has had some sewing
experience.
You will be making your first pair of pull-on
pants
learning how to get a pants pattern to fit. This project will be followed by
a blouse class featuring the use of interfacings and applying a collar that may also be
used as a casual jacket as well as a zippers and pocket class. Fabric and supplies will be chosen
DURING the first lesson.

person who wants to do their own thing under an instructors supervision.
You may choose any garment you wish but to make this class viable
all fabric must be purchased at Hartsdale Fabrics during the first lesson. This class is not for beginners. You may choose your pattern or style before
class.

TAILORING A JACKET
3 Lessons $65
This is the time of year to hone up your sewing skills and move on to making
a jacket to be proud of. Pat will be teaching you the simple ways
of getting a professional looking garment using industrial fusible
interfacings. We will be doing a collar with a four-point closure
as well as welt pockets.

ONE PIECE WEARABLES 2 Lessons $49
Simple but elegant fashions requiring minimal sewing and cutting! Each
modem and stylish piece is made using a single pattern piece, which is
then snipped, trimmed, twisted, folded and stitched. These are wonderful
projects for any level of sewer. Book with patterns available in
late July.

Needle felting has become a real art as well as a tension reliever. Just
image being able to poke holes as fast as you want and be creative at
the same time. Learn to embellish or make seasonal decorations.

TEEN CLASSES
We understand how difficult it is to work around teen schedules.
We also would like to provide the opportunity for a teen and parent to
do something together.
Teens are welcome to many of our Beginner Sewing, Beginner Quilting or
Beginner Pillow as well as our Beginner Knitting classes. Please check
our regular schedule for dates and times. We do limit the number of
teens that may attend the same class. Please call for availability.
ages 13-14 A parent must take & participate in
the entire class with your teen. Requires 2 registration fees.
ages 15-16 A parent must remain in store during
the first class to assist with fabric & notion selection.
ages 17-18 Adult classes are just fine. Please
be sure they are able to purchase the necessary supplies during the
first class.
Class Policy Please register 2 weeks in advance. All classes 2
hours unless otherwise noted.
Classes meet at same time each week.
